Rense: My name is Rense and for the past 40 years I have worked in the fantastic, dynamic and challenging profession of personnel and payroll administration. Since I started to work for Salarisjobs in 2013, I have been seconded full-time to a large hotel chain, where each day I travel around between the various hotels.

Working for this hotel chain offers a great deal of diversity and no two days are the same. As well as being responsible for the correct and timely processing of the flow of transactions in the payroll administration, I am also involved in HR matters from a social, tax and employment law point of view, in consultations concerning applications for and calculation of the 30% ruling and I also answer any questions employees may have about, for example, their salary slips or the company pension fund. I also support the HR department, providing answers to any questions about the HR software and with on-the-job training. As payroll administrator, I am in regular contact with the financial department about, for example, amendments to the payroll journal entry, but also whether elements have to be recorded under the Expense Allowance Scheme (WKR). I also maintain focus on the opportunities presented by various subsidies, in order to reduce the costs.

During the interim audits by external accountants, I provide information by way of various reports, but my job also involves fine-tuning processes in order to ensure an optimal product. Because of my diverse range of tasks, both internally and externally I experience deep appreciation, which really energises me; in short "we make people happy". I keep a watchful eye on the many periodic changes to social security, tax and employment law. As a registered member of NIRPA (Netherlands Institute of Chartered Payroll Accounting), I ensure that my professional knowledge remains up to date by attending the many specialist conferences and internal knowledge sessions and I read professional literature every day.
